Café Belge in Malines

Refurbishment of a building on the Grand Place in Malines.

An old building on the Grand Place in Malines, vacant for decades, was restored and is now a brasserie.

The project included re-laying the electricity and drainage, installing ventilation and central heating, etc. New flooring was laid, the cellar was completely renovated and new rooms built at the rear. The facade was restored and the whole interior painted. The oak-beamed roof was restored and sarking boards installed. A canopy was installed over the passage leading to the new back providing light throughout the building. Though more modern, this part is panelled in wood, matching the architecture of the old parts of the building.
