After years of extensive laboratory research and field testing, NEMOS GmbH, developer of a water-wave energy converter to generate blue energy, is building an installation in the North Sea as a prototype (½ scale). The installation is planned at approximately 500 m from the Eastern harbour breakwater of the port of Ostend, and Herbosch-Kiere was responsible for the non-everyday foundation, fencing and assembly works. The whole assembly consists of a number of components, including a 37-metre-long tubular pole with a weight of 50 tonnes that will serve as the foundation of the structure.
