Start of construction of the new tram line in Liège

Work on the new tram line in Liège has started. Our subsidiary Duchêne, which works as a subcontractor for COLAS, is responsible for both the civil engineering works and the construction of various buildings (a maintenance centre, a fuel station and an office building).

In its capacity as granting authority, the Wallonia transport manager (OTW) has decided to conclude a PPP contract for the execution of the project for the new tram line in Liège.

The project involves the construction of a line approximately 12 kilometres long that connects Sclessin (Stade du Standard de Liège) with the Coronmeuse workers’ neighbourhood, going right through the centre of Liège. This tram line will have 21 stations, 90% of which will be managed by the company itself. The line is connected to a car park with more than 900 spaces. The works to be carried out by Duchêne will last three years and provide a unique opportunity to fully highlight its know-how until 2022.

The inhabitants of Liège have also recently been able to discover the future tramway for themselves: a full-scale model is currently on display in the Wallonia Transport Museum. This is a great opportunity for future travellers to gain an initial impression three years before they start using the system.
